Genmai-cha or "brown rice tea" is a popular low-caffeine beverage in Japan. It is a combination of green tea and roasted brown rice and is locally known as 'popcorn tea' owing to some grains of rice that pops during the roasting process. This is also the tea of choice for religious persons during fasting days.
Origin: Japan
Note: High quality teas like this one can be steeped for several more times. Please do not leave the tea leaves steeped in water. Remove it as soon as infusion is done to stop the brewing process. Of course, if you like your tea strong, you can steep it longer. Now, hold your cup and enjoy your perfect cup of tea!
